PokerPadz® Poker Dogs Jose Canseco playing in Ladies Poker Tournaments?

(pic courtesy of London Gallagher)

Jose Canseco (ex-baseball player/steroid user) played in last weekends California State Poker Championship LADIES No Limit Hold'em poker tournament that was held at the Commerce Casino !

R e a l l y? I mean R E A L L Y?

In case you hadn't heard Jose the premise of LADIES ONLY events is to provide a safe place for women to play poker. LADIES ONLY events translates into men are NOT welcomed to play in these events.

Debbie Burkhead gives a great explanation of "Why Have Ladies-Only Tournaments?"

It's bad enough to worry about a man playing in a LADIES ONLY event BUT could a larger, more intimidating man show up to play at your table?

I personally saw Jose at the Bicycle Casino several weekends ago and he is a monster in size. Perhaps the most intimidating man in the WORLD to sit at a LADIES ONLY poker tournament!
You should be ashamed of yourself Jose for playing in this event!

Apparently 5 other men broke ettiqute and showed what kind of men they really are by enforcing the "no discrimination" policy that casinos must abide by on Saturday, September 15th.

Jose was the first man to bust out of this "ladies" event!

The women tried to shame them from playing in this event, as they should have and hopefully this will be the last of this kind!

Men are not welcomed to play in LADIES ONLY events. It's really that simple.

Congratulations to Gabrielle Wagner who took down first place......

We'll see what I fetch next time....

PokerPadz® Poker Dogs Pamela Anderson and Mystery Poker Player Engaged?!?!?!

Pamela Anderson says she's all-in love with a professional poker player. Appearing on Wednesday's Ellen Degeneres Show, Pamela Anderson not only claimed she doesn't know why exes Kid Rock, and Tommy Lee traded blows at Sunday's VMA's and shared that Tommy earlier that night gave her a spanking, but also revealed that she has found new love, this time by settling a gambling debt with some T, A and who knows what else.

Anderson declined to identify her new mystery man on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," but there's scuttlebutt in the poker world that she's been seeing 29-year-old Antonio "The Magician" Esfandiari .

Anderson later said on the show she lost $250,000 in a poker game and was offered an "Indecent Proposal"-like out to clear the debt.

"I paid off a poker debt with sexual favors, and I fell in love," Anderson told DeGeneres. "It's so romantic. It's romance."

Pressed for details, Anderson said, "I'm not really engaged. I don't know what I am. We may never get that far. We're in love. This is nice."

The mystery man will be revealed in the near future - Is it Antonio Esfandiari or Rick Salomon is the other possibility that has been reported?!?!?!..........

We'll see what the pack leader "fetches" next time......

PokerPadz® Poker Dogs Linda Johnson Ladies Night V

Kristy Gazes wins WPT Ladies Night V! It was quite a show as one can imagine, the following 6 ladies played and finished in this order:

Kristy Gazes
Linda Johnson
Pam Brunson
Miami Tran
Melissa Hayeden
Joanne "JJ" Liu

All of the ladies are fantastic poker players, although I was personally cheering for Linda Johnson! Not only is Linda a dear friend of mine but she is an incredible poker player and unfortunately she just didn't get the cards at this table, although she came in second.

Linda had the largest cheering section of all of the players, including her mom, although she is the "Queen of Poker" and she happens to be the announcer for the World Poker Tour for the past 6 years, so she had the entire staff and crew, including Mike Sexton, Vince Van Patten and Layla rooting for her!

Here is the play that transpired for the last 3 ladies:

Hand #137 - Linda Johnson has the button in seat 6, Brunson moves all in from the small blind, and Gazes asks for a count before she calls with A9. Brunson shows K5, and she'll need to improve to stay alive.

The flop comes 663, and Gazes retains the lead with ace high. The turn card is the Q, and Brunson needs a king or a five to survive.

The river card is the 2, and Gazes wins the pot with ace high. Pam Brunson is eliminated in third place.

Seven hands later of heads up poker:

Hand #143 - Linda Johnson has the button, she raises to 82,000, Gazes moves all in, and Johnson immediately calls with JJ. Gazes shows KK, and she's in a dominating position to win the tournament right here. Linda Johnson will need to improve to stay alive.

The flop comes A43, and Gazes retaisns the lead. Johnson needs a jack to win, or a runner-runner straight to chop the pot.

The turn card is the 5, and now a deuce will chop the pot between them. A jack will give the pot to Johnson, doubling her into the chip lead.

The river card pairs the board with the 4, and Kristy Gazes wins the hand -- and Ladies Night V -- with two pair, kings and fours.

Linda Johnson made an excellent showing in second place!!!!

Kristy Gazes is the new WPT Ladies Night V Champion, joining past winners Clonie Gowen, Isabelle Mercier, Jennifer Tilly, and J.J. Liu. With the victory, Gazes receives a $25,000 entry into the Season VI WPT World Championship next April, where she'll try to parlay this into some serious money.

Congratulations to all of the women for making such a great show!

We'll see what I fetch tomorrow!

PokerPadz® Poker Dogs Joe Sebok WPT Legends of Poker

We are down to the final 6 players at the WPT Legends of Poker 2007 here in Bell Gardens, California at the Bicycle Casino.

The final table will start at 5pm and it is a live show, so come on down to the Bicycle Casino to be apart of this final table taping.

The events leading up to the final 6 have been astounding. Joe Sebok was the chip leader through out most of this tournament only to bust out number 7, other wise known as "bubble boy."

This is so heartbreaking, as this is Joe's second WPT event that he has busted out number 7 hence not making it to the final table.

I think Joe describes how he feels best in his own words "it really just sucks the ass of a goat. There just isn't any other way to say it."

Here's how the final hand played out:

Sebok raised to $120,000 from middle position and was reraised by Schneider out of the small blind. Sebok moved all in, and Schneider called. Sebok tabled pocket queens, and Schneider showed AJ. Sebok retained the lead on the flop when it came 652. However the turn brought a crushing A, and Sebok was drawing to two outs. The river was a brick when it came 10, and Sebok was sent to the rail in seventh place. A sick silence spread throughout the room and disappointment was written across Sebok’s face as he left the room. Many may remember that Sebok was also the television bubble boy at the 2006 WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star and the sting of this repeat effect hung heavy in the room. After this development on the bubble, the final six were set and play ended for the night. They will return tomorrow at 5 p.m. to play for the $1,634,865 and the title of Legends of Poker champion.

Here is how things will look this evening:

Seat No. 1 - Shi Jia Liu - $1,305,000
Seat No. 2 - Dan Harrington - $2,230,000
Seat No. 3 - Tom Schneider - $3,495,000
Seat No. 4 - Thu Nguyen - $1,475,000
Seat No. 5 - David 'The Dragon' Pham - $470,000
Seat No. 6 - Mike McClain - $725,000

Tune in to catch all the action live from the Bicycle Casino or live blogging at Cardplayer and World Poker Tour starting at 5pm!

We will see what I fetch next time....

PokerPadz® Poker Dogs Lights, Camera, Poker!

I just returned from my 2 month trip to Sydney, Australia and I must say that a blogger would not survive in that country. Unfortunately their internet is much slower than our dial up method, MUCH slower, in fact so much that it wasn't possible to even upload a JPG file to an email or to a browser. Apparently Telstra is the only cable provider in the country and some how they have managed to put a hold on what they allow and don't allow. It doesn't make any sense to me how business's would put up with this because it definately is affecting their business. Apparently in some parts of the country, some blokes have secured a faster line some how but I never saw it, therefore, I can not confirm that rumor.

Other than that minor problem the country itself is beautiful and the people couldn't be any nicer. It's winter this time of year and of course it ended up being the coldest and rainest winter in history.

I flew over there to launch the start up of a new company called Lights, Camera, Poker! This Australian based production company that produces web streams, TV shows, etc... for Australia and worldwide markets.

We produced 3 shows in 3 weeks - a bit ambious if truth be told but we did it and we did it well. I included a photo of the "behind the production" scenes that most don't get to see. Once the show is complete it's usually late in the wee hours where the rental houses aren't opened so the expensive camera's, etc... have to be brought back to the producers house for security until they are returned the next day. Nothing like carrying 8 cameras, tripods, shot tape, etc... up 3 flights of stairs only to return it several hours later after shooting and striking for the past 20 hours! Good times.....

Anyway, we shot the APL's Pro Series at Roory Hill RSL club the first weekend, the APL's State Championships at Burwood RSL club and the Wild Turkey APL Tournament of Champions at Luna Park the following weekend. I will post each of these events and photo's seperately as there is a lot of information about all 3.

Production is complete for these 3 shows and we are now editing, etc... so stand by because in the near future these will be available through an APLTV channel that will be powered by Poker Netcast

I have returned back to the USA for awhile and I expect to return to Sydney, Australia again to assist with the next phase of "Lights, Camera, Poker!"

We will see what I fetch next time....

PokerPadz® Poker Dogs WSOP Signature Pads

It's been awhile since my last post as I was traveling around the world spending some time in Australia prepping for a cool upcoming poker project that is around the corner. It's called "Lights, Camera, Poker!" and you will be able to view through webcasts in the very near future. I will update more as I am returning in a few weeks to spear head this wonderful project!

It is quite the beautiful country, although I'm always happy to return back home to my friends, family and my 2 poker dogs!

I stumbled across the following Memorial Day poker sale item that I think is pretty darn cool - Signature PokerPadz! What I like about this product is that it allows fans of poker players a platform to obtain signatures from the pros that they like and it allows them to keep them in one cool place - a miniture poker table!

We all know the World Series of Poker 2007 is around the corner and these events leading up to the Main Event take about 6 weeks to play out and in the meantime while wondering the halls of the Rio one can carry around this poker pad and sharpie and collect signatures of the players they like. Once they return home they have a cool item to remember their WSOP experience from and they can use it as a mouse pad or put it on the shelf as it's now become an instant collectable.

Anyway, these are being given away free during this holiday weekend with a purchase of a Original Pokerpadz. Basically for $12.95 you receive 2 pads, 10 poker chips and a sharpie and you are off and running!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

These can be purchased at PokerPadz .

My next entry is about this great poker comic web that I discovered about a year ago that I just love to death, they really are the "nutz." Check it out until I blog next about it because they really have nailed something here Life's A Bluff!

We shall see what I fetch for tomorrow……

PokerPadz® Poker Dogs WPT Celebrity Invitational Season 5

Today is the final table of the WPT Celebrity Invitational at the Commerce Casino
in Los Angeles, California.

Only 6 players are seated at the World Poker Tour final table! Last evening there were 10 players seated at the final table playing down to the 6 that would make it on television and one of those 10 players was my sister, Robyn Moder.

Robyn Moder is the Executive Vice President of WPT Studios for WPT Enterprises, Inc. and and one of the 4 co-founders of the World Poker Tour, although many don’t know much about her because she runs the show behind the scenes. And according to Tom Lykos a woman of her stature, with her income is fugly - fat and ugly. Is this true, although he does state that there are exceptions to the rule?

Every person I encountered watching the tables play down insisted that she was an actress and what show or movie was she on? I sat in the audience so nobody would know that I was her sister and asked if she was a movie star I said “No, but she sure is pretty enough to be one, right?” The normal response was “Absolutely. Are you sure I haven’t seen her on such and such show?” I said “No.” and they said “What does she do?” I didn’t want to reveal that she was in fact in charge of the entire production team currently filming the event so I quickly appeared interested in the hand that was playing and then meandered off to another section only to repeat the same conversation.

I finally made myself down to the front row of the audience section as I “sweated” Robyn. I must say that “sweating” somebody in a poker tournament when they make it down to the final 4 tables is extremely stressful. Not only had Robyn made it down to the final 4 tables but her boyfriend Kurtis did as well and they were sitting at the same table. At one point I looked over and Kurtis almost doubled through another friend of mine, Crystal Osgood-Gray of the LPA Tour and as the tables played down, Kurtis and Robyn ended up at the same table again. Kurtis unfortunately ended up busting out with A K against A Q and the other player hit the Q on the flop, and so ended Kurtis game this evening. He pushed his chair back, walked over to Robyn, bent down and kissed her good bye and he walked off. All of the players were stunned and egar to bust out so they could walk over and kiss the cute “goodbye girl.” (That may have been the funniest moment of the evening or when I shortly told Kurtis that he started the exiting kissing precedence – from that moment on he watched every person bust out)

I was standing next to another “sweater,” Khary Payton’s wife as her husband was sitting to the left of Robyn, Kurtis, George Sylak and Steve Lipscomb. We instantly became the “Payton – Moder” fan club and prayed that they stayed out of each others pots.

Game play started at 3:00pm and before we knew it, it was 7:04pm and we were on a dinner break. So, much to take in. We forgo the buffet and ended up in the Sports Book where we sat with Linda Johnson for quite some time trying to get some last minute poker tips but then again not messing up Robyn’s game.

Back to the table we went where the final 10 players had to fill out bios and player releases.

Game play started and about 15 minutes into the round the final play took place between Robyn Moder and Adam Weinraub :

Adam Weinraub opened for 100k and Robyn Moder moved in for 155k. The action folded back around to Weinraub who called the 55k more.

Moder A 7
Weinraub JJ

The J's held up on a board of Q 10 7 6 2 and Moder is out in 10th place.

And that was the end of Robyn Moder’s poker debut at the WPT Celebrity Invitational 2007!

The good news is that she is confident that the final 6 players signed player release forms, she now understands the need for food and restroom breaks but the sad news is that she won’t be sitting in one of the 6 chairs on her set and trust me it would have looked a lot prettier had she and Vanessa Rousso been sitting in 2 of those 6 chairs.

We shall see what I fetch for tomorrow……

PokerPadz® Poker Dogs Bill Edler Poker Netcast

If a poker dog is too tired too play ball, then what's left in life?

I have been following the WPT LA Poker Classic and we are now at Day 4 and Bill Edler is the chip leader. Who is Bill Edler most people ask? People who don't player poker.

This is amazing as I recently met Bill at the "Poker Netcast Heads Up Poker Challenge" at the Crystal Casino in Los Angeles 3 weeks ago, where he won the entire event! He out played the following poker players, plus a few others to equal 64 players in total:

- Barry Greenstein
- Yosh Nakano
- Todd Brunson
- Huck Seed
- 'Yukon'Brad Booth
- Dr. Jerry Buss
- Cyndy Violet
- David Benyamine
- Jeff Madsen
- Gabe Kaplan
- Chip Reese
- Robert Jean Bellande
- Hasan Habib
- Eli Elezra
- Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi
- Gavin Smith
- Joe Sebok
- Chad Brown
- Erick Lindgren
- Daniel Negreanu
- Clonie Gowen
- Carlos Mortenson
- John Phan
- Freedie Deeb
- Freddie Bonyadi
- Patrick Antonious
- Hoyt Corkins
- Marco Tranielo

in 3 days of intense heads up poker action and when the cards unfolded, there was only one winner and that last man standing; was Bill Elder! For more information click on Heads Up Challenge

Bill is a wonderful, humble poker player who not only deserved this title but many more to come!

I wish him continued success (unless he is at my poker table this weekend at the WPT Celebrity Invitational) not only with next years "Poker Netcast Heads Up Challenge" but with this years WPT La Poker Classic and that Bill doesn't bite off the hand that feeds him...

PokerPadz® Poker Dogs - Pokier Charities Paul Hannum

Today’s topic is about charities and poker with todays photo in memory of both Paul Hannum and his dog Bob.

Poker is notorious for being greedy, selfish, downward spiral in ruining people’s lives, etc…although to be honest, I have found nothing but the opposite to be true.

Almost a year ago a close friend of mine passed away at the young age of 45 leaving behind a fiancee who was 7 months pregnant. He was a camera man on the World Poker Tour and well known amongst the poker players, producers, casino’s, etc…

We held the first ever “Paul Hannum No Limit Hold' Em Charity Poker Tournament” at the Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens, CA in August of 2006. Gavin Smith and my self put on this event and Jennifer Tilly ended up winning first prize of 25K and turned around and donated it all directly to “Baby Hannum.”

Jennifer Tilly will forever be the most generous person on this planet in my eyes and “Baby Hannum’s.”

This year the plan is to have the "Paul Hannum Annual No Limit Hold Em' Charity Poker Tournament II," August 2007 at the Bicycle Casino and the buy-in is only $200 + $30 entry fee, with multi re-buys with 100% of the proceeds going to Baby Hannum.

So far the donated prizes are:

Full Tilt Poker – A $10,000 buy in to a World Poker Tour Event of their choice, plus $2,000 in their Full Tilt account.

Pokerstars – A PokerStars Caribbean Adventure package. This includes an $8,000 buy in to the tournament, plus 7 nights hotel at the Atlantis Resort. The package also includes $1,000 in the winners PokerStars account to help with travel expenses.

WPT – Entry into the 2008 WPT Celebrity Invitational, which will be played in LA in March 2008.

Ultimate Bet - A $10,000 Aruba prize package consisting of, one $5,200 entry and $4,800 for travel expenses.

In addition we will have an auction where one can purchase the Bluff Magazine 2006 World Series of Poker actual poker table that all of the poker pro's and celebrities signed. We will also be auctioning of poker memorabilia autographed by the poker pro's themselves such as Gavin Smith, Phil Hellmuth, Scotty Nguyen, Mike "The Grinder" Mizrachi, Mike Sexton, Vince Van Patten, etc...

If you have any poker gear or prizes that you wish to donate please contact me at Kristin@Pokerpadz.com for shipping information.

Thank you in advance for your support. Will Jennifer Tilly hold onto her title this year or will somebody new become our PH Champion - only the cards will tell in due time.

We shall see what I fetch for tomorrow……

PokerPadz® Poker Dogs II

Welcome back to “PokerPadz™ Poker Dogs” where you won’t read a recent update on Britney Spears,Anna Nicole Smith,Owen Wilson or the Oscars - you can catch that on Perez Hilton

Today I am talking about “PokerPadz™,” the most innovative poker gift in the world. I can say that because I am one of 2 creators of this wonderful poker accessory.

Sounds silly, right? A miniature poker table mouse pad that allows people to shuffle their chips while working or playing online poker. But how silly is it really? Poker players love to shuffle their poker chips while away from the actual poker table at their local casino and what better place to practice your riffling while on the telephone, playing online poker, channel surfing, working on an excel document, surfing the net for Wii or digital cameras, etc…

If you don’t own one yet, you should. We are running a “2 for 1” special that won’t last long, so try out this new poker gear and feel free to email us your review of our product and we will add it to our upcoming testimonial page.

PokerPadz® Poker Dogs

This kicks off the series of “PokerPadz™ Poker Dogs” - a series of short blogs about poker events and novelty items unleashed around the world. The focus is on innovative poker concepts.

The latest innovative poker phenomena is - “Poker Netcast.” “Poker Netcast” streams LIVE cash poker games and tournaments directly to the internet. Cameras pick up unscripted and unedited poker action with real players and real money supported with commentary. Bart, Bostin, Nicole and Kirsten have bones to pick with the majority of the players after viewing how they played their hands or how they didn’t play their hands!

I had the privilege of attending 2 of their recent events – “Heads Up Poker Challenge” at the Crystal Casino and “Hoopology Celebrity Poker Event” with Michael Jordan and Trent Tucker at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

It was a once in a life time experience as Joker Gaming, LLC the producers of “Poker Netcast,” have mastered the art of live action poker coverage while streaming LIVE to the internet. Joker Gaming is famously known for “Live at the Bike” and recently have branched out in their development of “Poker Netcast.”

Both of these events in addition to over 1500 hours of archived episodes are available at PokerNetcast. You will improve your game as you watch each episode.
